The 12 mm thick OFYR plate stores heat optimally, remains stable and can withstand high temperatures – perfect for even cooking and long shelf life.
The black carbon steel cooking surface is sturdy and resistant to warping, which makes it well-suited for frequent or heavy-duty use.
A properly maintained cooking surface can last for many years.
With proper seasoning (thin layers of cooking oil heated until they polymerize), the surface develops a patina that helps food release easily. Over time, the patina also helps protect against corrosion.
Unlike some coated surfaces, black steel doesn’t easily chip or flake. Cleanup is usually just scraping off residue, wiping with a cloth or paper towel, and re-oiling if needed.
